Biography - Teaching

Roger Benedict's studies took him to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and to the International Musician's Seminar at Prussia Cove. A highly sought-after teacher himself, he was a Professor at the Royal Northern College of Music from 1997-2002, and is a Tutor to the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO). Roger Benedict is now Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium, a Visiting Artist at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in Melbourne, and gives masterclasses worldwide. In addition he is Artistic Director of the Sydney Symphony Fellowship Program, a unique training program for emerging professional musicians. Participants in this program have been awarded many honours and have won positions in leading orchestras and ensembles in Australia, Europe and Japan.

At the Sydney Conservatorium Roger has been Artistic Director of several important festivals celebrating the viola including Viva Viola! in 2004 in collaboration with Yuri Bashmet and Violalive 2008 in collaboration with Tabea Zimmermann.
